Spain basketball coach Sergio Scariolo said his side can still improve as it nears the end of its preparations for the World Championships.
The Spanish will begin the defense of the world title it won in Japan four years ago, in Turkey at the end of the month and so far preparations have gone according to plan.
Scariolo's side has won all its warm-up games to date, although it now faces a tough test in two further rounds of matches. The Spanish face Argentina and Brazil in the city of Logrono, before taking on Lithuania and World Championship favorites the United States in Madrid.
The Spain coach is pleased with his players, but now he is looking for an extra step forward in quality.
"What I am happiest about is the willingness of the players to work, the cohesion they show and the way they all understand their role on the pitch," he said in Sunday's edition of sports paper Marca.
"However, there are things that we can improve, such as the way that we manage the final seconds of our possession, or the way that we control defensive rebounds," continued the Italian, who looked ahead to his side's next rivals.
"Argentina and Brazil are two teams that are among the candidates to win a medal at the World Championships," he said.
Finally Scariolo criticized the decision to not make either Spain or the United States top seeds in the World Championships. Spain is the reigning champion and won the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics, while the Americans are reigning Olympic champions.
"The fact that we are not top seeds at the start of the tournament is totally incongruous," he commented.
